  THINKING INSIDE THE BOX

For quite sometime Toyota has released it's youth-focused brand for the U.S. From what we see of these cars here in Australia is almost nothing at all, well fortunately only in toys from Kmart and Toys 'r' Us at the moment. Two Japan-market models, the Ist and bB, were rebadged as the Scion xA and xB, respectively, when Toyota Motor Corp decided to launch Scion, this is where the company began anyway.

Their move kept development costs low, and it tapped into the fascination some U.S. youth have with Japanese culture. Yes, it's all U.S based but will we be seeing these so called 'ugly' vehicles enter our AUShores? I would hope so the newer xB model doesn't seem to be that attractive at the moment. But leaving this aside the original was not of all that appealing either, but through time we can all develop a liking for them which grows as we see them, hopefully this 2007 model will do the same job.

For those who don't know Scions main focus, they are basically trying to sell cars with maximum customization abilities, which are done either directly from the manufacturer or aftermarket.

The xB which everyone calls the xBox is probably the signature vehicle of this branding although they have a simple Celica looking tC coupe which is the more adjustable model for tuners.

Take a look at their web site to start customizing you're own Scion, although we may not get them as of now, maybe import chances might rise as Scion gets more exposure here in Australia.

And for those artistic enough there has been a 'skin a Scion' contest running on their web site which allows winners to score their very own Scion or cash prize of equivalent value! Check the competition details here:
