Lance Biffen takes out 2006 WA DRIFT SERIES!

Lance Biffen (Imports 101 Nissan S14) was crowned the 2006 WA Sporting Car Club Drift Champion at a nail biting final round of WA’s inaugural drift series just last weekend, December 2nd, at Barbagallo Raceway.
Biffen won WA’s inaugural drift title by just three points from Michael Sullivan (Maytech S13 Nissan) on a hot day that produced some equally scintillating drifting.
Going into the final round, Biffen held a slender lead at the head of the points table, but everyone knew that Western Australia’s first ever drift title would eventually have to be decided between Biffen, Sullivan and Nissan S15 driver, Adam Trewhella.
These three protagonists, as well as drivers like Kieran Morgan (Nissan Skyline R32), Keith Rance (Nissan Silvia S14), James Eames (Nissan Laurel), Nicholas Van Geest (Nissan Cefiro) and younger Biffen brother, Andrew (Nissan Silvia), have been at the pointy end of the Group A division in local drifting all year long.
Yet it was the three semi finals ‘Battles’ at the December 2nd Grand Final meeting which saw the 2006 Series Champion emerge, as Sullivan spun out during the Group A final battle for the day, virtually handing the crown to Lance Biffen on a silver plater.
The final points tally shows just how close the series was, with Lance securing the Championship on 86 points - just three points clear of Sullivan on 78.
“I love the title of being State Champion,” enthused Lance, “and it proves how consistently placing in the top at each round and reliability with the car pays off - consistency is the key along with good car maintenance.
But I have to say a special thanks to my brother Andrew for all his help this year as I wouldn’t be where I am without him, nor Imports 101 who have supported me all year, along with Nexen Tyres and more recently, Top Racing.”
Added WA’s first drift champion,
“Next year the competition is going to be tougher or sure, as there are a lot of skilful drivers starting to emerge, but this can only mean good things for the sport.”
